Supporting the Friends of Whitcliffe Common
E-Mail

Ludlow is blessed to have the beautiful open spaces of Whitcliffe Common, literally on its doorstep.  It is also very fortunate to have the services of the Friends of Whitcliffe Common (FoWC) - a band of volunteers who, together with Shropshire Wildlife Trust, work tirelessly to keep the Common open and safe for the public to enjoy.

My hobby is woodturning and since 2017 I have been doing this with the hope of helping FoWC in their fundraising activities. Most of the wood I use has grown on the Common and either been blown down or died and removed for safety reasons.  The resulting items are offered in exchange for a donation to FoWC.
I do use wood from other sources local to Ludlow and I am very grateful to the many donors who have helped me to help FoWC.  If you have any interesting wood, the arrangement is that you get a "souvenir" of the tree you have lost and FoWC get the remainder.

All the images shown on this site are meant to illustrate the kind of things which can be made, but they are not exhaustive. So if you see something you like and would like a similar item, or if you have an idea of your own, please get in touch.  I am always very happy to do special commissions and will always do my best to accommodate your wishes.  Please understand, however, that the availability of suitable wood can be a problem as this is a non-commercial venture and I do not buy wood in.

Please also be aware that this is not a "Shop" in the normal sense.  We are non-commercial, have no e-commerce facilities and are not equipped to pack and post items.  We can only offer collection from Ludlow.
100% of all donations go directly to FoWC
